Personal:

Married, with 1 daughter

IT Analyst/Programmer for 20 years. Also, an avid gardner with a small retail nursery on the side.

I've been a runner most of my life. I started running in 5th grade when the high school coach started a "run for fun" program at all the grade schools in the school district. Also, growing up my neighbor, who was about 8 years older than me, was a superstar in high school with a 4:15 1600m in the early 80s. So I had some good role models.

Most important, I love the Lord, and serve Him in my church and in Bible Study Fellowship, which is an international Bible Study open to people of all church backgrounds (i.e. interdenominational). If you are looking for a phenomenal way to study the Bible and draw closer to God this is the study for you. Check out BSFInternational.org to find a class near you. They are all over the place!

Warmup

2.1 miles easy in 17:05 (8:08/mile)

2x2 min. @ 1/2 marathon pace, total 1.05 miles

Workout

4 mile tempo run in 25:04 (6:16/mile)

This was a fairly encouraging run, especially for a first sustained effort run. I hope this will become easier. I'm sure it will. This is usually my strength, just out of practice. I've only been doing shorter intervals on the track for some time.

The pace was not hard, just feels a little unnatural to run like this now. This should make a big difference in my ability to run at marathon pace in a few short weeks.

Splits: 6:28.9 - 6:11.2 - 6:18.4 - 6:05.7 (last 1/2 mile in 2:54!)

Recovery

3.3 miles in 27:56 (8:28/mile), with an intermission to do some strength training before the last mile.

Nice run D,

Can you remind me what your next race is going to be?

Also I was wondering if BSF is similar to CBS (Community Bible Study). They have CBS down here (mostly women's study) but they did have a men's version for a while that I went to. It was great!

My next race is the Eugene Marathon on April 29th - less than 5 weeks away!

I'm not familiar with CBS, but they could be similar. BSF is based out of San Antonio, although there are more than a thousand classes all over the world. It wouldn't surprise me if there were similar styles of studies in Texas.

BSF involves daily study, weekly small group discussions, teaching and fellowship. It's a pretty awesome study. We're finishing up Ephesians this week. In fact I'll be teaching on Monday night on putting on the full armor of God.

I think it is very similar. I need to see if there are any BSF studies near me.

Niiiice! What a run! You and rattletrap are too speedy! Can't wait to see how your marathon goes in 5 weeks!

Thanks! I'm not running today, though. My hip/leg is too sore and swollen. Hopefully it will be nothing.

What's up DL...? No running since Tuesday?

From DLTheo on Sat, Mar 24, 2012 at 23:30:26 from 76.28.161.119

Just a little behind. I only took Friday off. I'll get it updated tomorrow maybe. I've been busy preparing to teach at BSF this Monday. Thanks for checking up on me!
